The Invisalign Difference

Braces for teeth are one of the many orthodontic treatments to patients with crooked or crowded teeth, overbite or underbite problems or jaw problems. This may sound nasty and excruciatingly painful. But if these teeth problems are left untreated, these problems can result in tooth decay, gum disease, headaches, and earaches, as well as speaking, biting or chewing problems.

Braces come in different varieties and your dentist would know what is the right type of braces for you.  At Walton Orthodontics, we are always after your beautiful smile and helping you resolve your teeth problems. Now let’s talk about Invisalign, the clear aligners.

Invisalign

Invisalign is a new alternative to traditional braces. They are teeth aligners too that uses a series of 18 to 30 mouth-guard-like templates. These templates are generated by computer simulation and can be removed every two weeks. There are so many things you can gain from Invisalign compared to other braces.

  • They are clear, invisible and easily removable for eating, drinking & flossing.
  • Each aligner is trimmed to your gum line for optimal comfort and appearance.
  • It straightens teeth more predictably and comfortably.
  • It comes with blue compliance indicator dots to help you stay on track.
  • It is virtually invisible and no need for emergency visits for broken wires.
  • It is covered by many orthodontic insurance plans

The Invisalign system is suitable for patients of all ages specifically with bite issues. There are many dental issues that Invisalign can be of great help. Like the following:

  1. Crowded Teeth where teeth can bunch up, overlap and twist, sometimes getting pushed to the front or the back. Crowded teeth can make it hard to brush and floss well. This would be easier for plaque, tartar, and harmful bacteria to build up. Then, this can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. This can also get worse over time.
  2. Gap Teeth where you have extra space between two or more of your teeth. Gap teeth can create pockets between your teeth and gums where food can get stuck. This can lead to gum disease as it would make your gums tender and sore.
  3. Overbite Problem is when your upper front teeth overlap with your lower front teeth. This can cause dental issues from your teeth wearing down to pain in your jaw.
  4. Crossbite Problem is when you close your mouth and some of your upper teeth are sitting inside your lower teeth. A crossbite makes your gums start to recede above your gum line. This can lead to a painful gum problem.
  5. Underbite Problem is when you close your mouth and your lower front teeth are in front of your upper teeth. T dental problem is usually with your lower jaw being too far forward. An underbite can make it hard to chew properly and speak clearly, and it might cause your teeth to wear down more quickly. Invisalign clear aligners can fix some underbites. Severe underbites might require Invisalign treatment combined with surgery.
